John Singer Sargent



John Singer Sargent (1856-1925) is known as an American Impressionist. Born in Florence, Italy to American parents, he would be become one of the greatest society painters of his day. The above painting is Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose and can be found at the Tate Gallery, in London.

He did such beautiful work. I remember seeing one of his portraits when we toured Biltmore. Just lovely.

Hi PVE-I also love Madame X. Have you read the book about the painting I am Madame X, by Gionia Diliberto? It is very interesting!
